Q. How good do need to be to attend a retreat?

A. Our courses are suitable for all levels of painter, we tailor your tution to suit your skills. This works well because we are two tutors and host small groups.

Q. Do I have to paint in one media? 

A. You can choose to work in any media. Focus on one or try out another.
Janet is an expert in Watercolour, Abstract  Acrylic, Mixed Media, Drawing and Sketchbooking.
Peter is an expert in Oil, Acrylic, Charcoal and Drawing. 

Q. Do you provide all the materials? 

A. We can provide all the materials you need, especially if you are a beginner. More experienced painters often bring their paints, brushes and surfaces to work with. We have a fully equipped studio. 

Q. Are the classes structured?

A. It all depends on your skills, beginners need more structure and a good foundation in drawing and colour mixing. More experienced painters we stretch and encourage honing techniques and working alongside. We demo, provide tution and share our 20 years of teaching knowledge.

Q. How long do we paint for each day? 

A. Breakfast is at 8.30am and at 9.30am we head for the studio to start our day. We break for lunch at 1.00pm and start the afternoon session at 2.00pm with teaching finishing at 4.30pm. You can continue to paint right up until the drinks and supper bell at 7.00pm.

Q. How do I get to Brambles? 

A. Many guests travel by car, we are 40 miles west of Exeter, and Sprytown is close to the A30 so easy to find. PL16 0AY  brings you to the hamlet. We have plenty of parking spaces in the rear courtyard.
You can also get to us by train, the nearest station is Okehampton, it’s a very easy change at Exeter St Davids. The train journey to Exeter from London is only 2.5 hours. We will pick you up and return you to Okehampton at pre arranged times.
