Review- We hosted our first Amalfi Coast painting holiday in June 2019. We had beautiful weather, we stayed in a fabulous family run hotel, Hotel Villa St Michele, perched on the edge of the Amalfi coast at the bottom of the beautiful town of Ravello. It was the perfect base, terraced facing the sea, we had plenty of room to sit under lemon trees, to paint and relax and enjoy the things on offer to paint. A lovely space to teach in and to demo and explain the best use of the paints and media we brought with us.
We took a boat to Amalfi, Minori, and Cedara. It was fun town hopping by sea.
We spent the day in the beautiful Mountain town of Ravello. The main square is surrounded by beautiful trees and there are long views of the Amalfi coastline. The Cimbrone gardens gave us a beautiful location to paint, old, beautiful buildings, statues, flowers, long walkways…it was exquisite.
We visited both Pompeii and Herculaneum. Amazing restoration, what skill, what culture. We had time for a quick sketch of the main forum with Vesuvius Looming in the background.
