Welcome

Brambles Art Retreat Painting Holidays

Why choose one of our painting holidays?

We find beautiful locations and organise your holiday for you so that you don’t have to worry about anything at all. Just arrive at the location and know you will be looked after. You can enjoy a relaxing painting holiday with two talented tutors that have over 14 years teaching experience and who are practising artists in their own right.

Where do we host our courses?

We find beautiful places to stay, from lovely homes, to beautiful BnBs, hotels, villas and apartments. We stay in fabulous places, sometimes only feet from the sea, like our location in Greece, or happily nestled on a Tuscan hillside amongst the olive groves and vineyards. We can be hidden away in the foothills of the Himalayas, or stay on a remote private estate with amazing views. You can watch the drama unfold over the stormy Cullins on the Isle Skye, or relax painting after eating a feast in a palace in India.

See our list on offer for 2017

What are the travel arrangements?

We advise on your journey, from car routes, train journeys to flights. We meet you at the airport or train station and when needed transfer you to your accommodation. You can also drive to some of our locations.

Where do we eat?

We offer courses where we eat out each night a fabulous local restaurants, or we have holidays with meals included, with fabulous cooking, local chefs preparing delicious regional dishes.

Do we see any sights?

We take the opportunity to experience the culture of the places we visit the Majorelle gardens in Marrakech; sit in a Taverna at the world heritage site of Old Perithia on the island of Corfu. A very special evening, dinner at restaurant 58 up the Eiffel Tower, or home made pizza sat in Piazza del Signiorini in Florence, yards from the statue of David. A visit to Gaudi Park in Barcelona to capture the shapes and explore one of Gaudis famous space and we try to find time to visit galleries and museums. Lunch at a Vineyard in Tuscany, meet a practising artist in Venice. Visit the  Ufizzi in Florence and to top it off you can swim from a motor boat while exploring coves in Greece.

Will I get tuition every day?

We offer planning and instruction on how to paint and draw the spectacular views that present themselves. You have the attention and direction of two Tutors on each course, with instruction on composition, sketching, colour mixing and the finer points of technique, all this is on offer each day. They discuss the aim of the course with you, and tease out your aspirations. The tutors Janet Brady and Peter Davies have over 14 years of experience. It is also good to know that Peter and Janet are practising artists as well as teachers.

Do I have to be really good art and painting?

All skill levels are welcome, from the absolute beginner that may need step by step instruction; intermediate painters that want to learn new techniques and improve their painting; we also welcome accomplish painters or established artists that want company painting advanced, instruction, or a change of scene. This is an activity holiday, you will be travelling and painting with like minded people with a common interest.

What medium can I paint in?

You can paint in Watercolour, Acrylic or Oil, use Pastel, Charcoal,Pencil, Ink,  mixed media, anything that inspires you. Use canvas, board, paper or a sketchbook, or even work on a bit of old cardboard, anything goes.

Do I have to pay the whole cost in one go?

We like a deposit to secure your place then you pay in instalments, this helps you spread the cost.

Relax and enjoy an activity holiday.

Its good to remember its a holiday as well as a learning experience, you get as much out of the holiday as you choose, you can paint as much or as little as you like. We have hundreds of wonderful guest comments from our previous guest, and several of our guests join us on more than one holiday each year and many join us year after year.
