Cherry Blossom, Tokyo, Mt Fuji, Hemeji, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka.
We have successfully hosted our first painting holiday in Japan and are planning to do so again.
2019 Dates : March 27th -April 12th
We are offering a 16 day trip touring Japan, sketching and painting along the way, visiting major cities, national heritage sites, shrines, gardens, temples and museums. Japan is full of special places we know are a pleasure to paint. This is cherry blossom season when Japan is especially beautiful, we can’t guarantee arriving at peak season but try our best.
We stay in western hotels in central locations, and use public transport to get around. We use the bullet train for faster and longer journeys, local trains, buses, the metro, trams, the cable car and boats on our travels, and on rare occasions a taxi. Entrance to all major sites is included, however special events such as the calligraphy or wood cut printing are extra. Each evening we eat at a different restaurant experinencing the full range of Japanese cuisine. All of this is included in the price.
We have extended our original two week tour to sixteen days to add a full painting day in each location. Many of our guests arrived two or three days early so we have added the extra days into the trip.
We start our tour with five nights in the capital city of Tokyo. It’s a very cosmopolitan city, a metropolis of business with a wealth of culture, museums, beautiful gardens, palaces and shrines.
We move on to Hakone, leaving the city for the beautiful countryside. Wonderful scenery and to top it it all the beautiful breath taking Mt Fuji.
We stay in a traditional Ryoken a typical Japanese house, for three nights, cosy, welcoming, with a private hot spa. It is beautiful.
Travelling on to Kyoto for five nights, there was so much to see, the Torri arches and the Bamboo forest and the Golden temple.
Finally finishing off in Osaka for three nights. There is also an optional day trip to Hiroshima and the beautiful island of Miyajima said to be one of the top three beauty spots in the whole of Japan.
We have an exciting programme of locations, mixing ancient and modern. A full list of locations is available on booking.
The final fee for this trip is to be confirmed it is approximately £4700.00 per person when two people are sharing a twin or double room with an extra £500.00 single supplement. We work with an excellent tour company in Japan and they provide a professional Japanese guide 24/7. We couldn’t have been more pleased with their service.
We provide tuition from two tutors throughout the trip, working in all media. Collection on arrival in Japan from the airport to the hotel. Transportation throughout the trip, bullet train, local trains, metro, local buses, tram, cable car, and boat!
All hotel accommodation with breakfast and all evening meals, it does not include lunch. Dinner each evening at a range of Japanese restaurants which we thoroughly enjoyed.
This price does not include the cost of the international flights. Guests can choose whatever airline and class to travel. We recommend flights and arrange arrival times. Ollection on arrival is including the price. The guide arranges departure taxis to all airports, this is not included in the price but is often a shared cost.
