2017 – What a year!

2017 – What a year!

As we put 2017 to bed ……Time to reflect on what a fab year we had painting.

Firstly we hosted two courses at the fabulous “Calamansac” situated on the edge of the Helford River…. what a find that was and such a brilliant location allowing us to really explore Cornwall and all of its fabulous iconic locations. So successful that we are hosting another course at Calamansac in June 2018 and only have a few places left.

“Barcelona” as part of our city break programme we chose Barcelona as our city in 2017. What a beautiful city! It was a pleasure to sketch and paint all around the town. We not only found plenty of time and space to sit and sketch the iconic Gaudi Cathedral we scheduled a visit inside. It was truly amazing! We also visited Gaudi Park, Casa Balto and Les Ramblas.

Our city for 2018 is Rome, the drama of the Colusseum, the elegance of St Peters, the whole city is full of relics and fabulous spaces to sketch and paint. Can’t wait.

“Isle of Skye” didn’t disappoint, no midgees (second year running) weather was good, locations were stunning. Eileen Donan Castle was beautiful and the setting couldn’t have been more picturesque. We took a boat out to a remote loch and sat sketching the Cullins as the clouds whizzed by and the light changed every other minute. Sunsets were glorious, such a fab trip! We are hosting another trip to Skye in 2018 as the landscape is so inspiring its become a “must do” in our planing calendar.

“Tuscany” was truly beautiful. Relaxed, stunning views to paint, fabulous food, lovely hot weather and good painting. We are hosting our third trip in August 2018 and look forward to being spoilt by Laura and Phillipo at their beautiful home Ancora di Chianti.

Finally at “Brambles” we hosted four courses throughout the year, it was lovely to have returning guests join us and to meet new painters too. There are several opportunities to come visit us here in Devon in 2018. It is always a popular venue therefore we highly reccomend you book early.

We have lots of great plans for 2018, and we are most excited about our trip first painting trip to Japan.

Happy painting, Happy New Year!
