We had a fabulous week painting in Tuscany!
The weather was fabulous all week. We stayed with Laura and Fillipo at their beautiful eco B&B Acora de Chianti. Uninterrupted painting in tranquil surroundings, we sat amongst and painted in their olive groves and vineyards, it was idyllic. We also had a beautiful air conditioned studio as our base where we were able to escape from the heat of the afternoon.
Laura organised a local chef to come each evening to cook us authentic Tuscan dishes, we felt so spoilt. The food was excellent and was all washed down with Fillipos own wine from the vines surrounding our lovely location.
We took a tour of Castello Verazzanno, the local king of Chianti Classico wine makers and had the opportunity to sketch in their beautiful gardens and grounds.
Our group of painters enjoyed the location very much, we made them a small sketchbook each with a selection of interesting surfaces to work on. Handmade paper from Our visit to India, Watercolour paper and cartridge paper. Our painters produced some lovely work in Watercolour, Pastel, Acrylic, Oil, Charcoal and Pen and Wash.
The beautiful Tuscan landscape is a wonderful subject to paint. It was one of our challenges to capturing the delicate Italian colours and mist of the rolling hills as they dissapear and fade into the distance.
This has become our favourite painting location and will definitely be on our list for 2018!
