At the mention of the word Sponging all my painters hold up the smallest bit of sponge they can get their hands on, something that may have once been used for applying make up! That’s not good enough!
The key to good sponging is to use a broad range of sponges. Each unique natural sponge has its own footprint, to make the mark you need to help produce a random effect quickly. Sponging can be soooo useful.
Each sponge has a different texture and scale, you need to keep a collection of sponges so that you can change the sponge to suit the area you want to pant.
You can buy a packet of sponges from art shops, make sure you have a good look at the contents and check there is a range of sizes.
